A Cherished Saturday Tradition

“A Heartwarming Breakfast Tradition: Memories of Laughter, Love, and Learning with My Son”

When my kids were little, I made it a tradition to take one of them out for breakfast every Saturday. With four boys, spending quality one-on-one time was important, so each Saturday morning, we would go to the restaurant or café of their choice. We’d hang out, have a great visit, and enjoy a delicious breakfast together. Afterward, we would head to K-mart so they could pick out a Hot Wheel, which they loved collecting.

One particular Saturday, I took my second oldest son, who was seven years old at the time, out for breakfast. After we were done eating and getting ready to head to the store, he suddenly asked me, "Dad, did you notice my socks?"

I was curious where this was going and replied, "No, I did not."

He then asked, "Do you think anybody else noticed my socks?"

I thought for a moment and said, "You know, son, I don't think so."

He giggled and said, "If you don't notice my socks, and nobody else notices my socks, then why does Mom make me change them every day?"

We both laughed, and I explained, "Well, Son, if you didn't change them every day, they would probably smell reallllllllly bad!"

I love his thought process. Such great memories!
